WRITING In writing we are learning about narratives. Read fiction story books and talk about the characters, setting, the problem and the resolution. The old fairy tales are great because they all follow the narrative writing style.
READING Please remember to hear your children read or get an older sibling to hear them read. It is vital that they read out aloud to an adult so they can learn to read correctly. (when they read to themselves they often add extra words in or don't fully understand everything they read) When you are reading you can use the 4 roles of the reader which we use at school. They are: Predictor- This can be done at the start of end of reading. Questioner-they can come up with a question about information in the book or a question about the characters feelings. eg How did Ben feel when........ Clarifier- look up any unknown words in the dictionary. Explain unknown phrases. Summariser- Summarise the parts that you have just read.
